CT Charging Infrastructure Will Be Getting An Upgrade

electric charge, road sign, sign

The CT Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) has released a proposal for the design of a program to build out the state’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Specifically, it highlights the need for available Level 2 charging at home and work, as well as the need to increase the number of DC fast charging stations around the state. We at Inductive fully support this program, as charging infrastructure is one of the roadblocks to large scale EV adoption.

We have filed written comments asking that DC fast charging (DCFC) be given priority in public areas over L2 – this will improve adoption by increasing access to rapid charging. We’ve also asked that the DCFC stations being installed have support for the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard as well as CHAdeMO – so that owners of existing EVs aren’t left behind as the general trend moves toward CCS.
